Welcome to the SOILTRIBES Community of Practice
A space where soil becomes a meeting ground for knowledge, care, and democratic renewal.
We’re thrilled to welcome you—or invite you to join—a growing European network of people and organisations who believe that the future of soil is inseparable from the future of democracy.
Whether you're already a confirmed member or considering applying before the May 31st deadline, know that the SOILTRIBES Community of Practice (CoP) is not just a project—it’s a movement. A shared commitment to regenerate our relationships with land, knowledge, and each other.
We believe that strengthening soil literacy is one of the most powerful acts of ecological and democratic transformation. In response to the EU’s call to "Grow Soil Literacy" as a cornerstone of the Soil Mission, this community brings together practice-based learning, peer exchange, and policy experimentation rooted in the real challenges of communities across Europe.
📚 Why Soil Literacy Matters
Soil literacy means more than knowing how soil works—it means understanding the social, historical, and political dimensions of land use, degradation, and restoration. It’s about giving people the tools to interpret and influence the systems that shape the landscapes we depend on.
From formal education to community storytelling, from digital tools to policy dialogues, SOILTRIBES is investing in soil literacy as a pathway to ecological resilience and democratic innovation.
As the climate and biodiversity crises deepen, building shared knowledge about soil becomes urgent—not just to protect it, but to imagine new ways of living with it, learning from it, and acting through it.
🤝 Join the Movement
This is a space for those who dig, teach, legislate, regenerate, mobilize, prototype, and imagine.
If you work with the land—or on behalf of its futures—this community is for you.
